Cathedral Café

In partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Niagara, Christ’s Church Cathedral, St. Matt’s, and the City of Hamilton.

Through a partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Niagara, Christ’s Church Cathedral, St. Matt’s and the City of Hamilton, the Cathedral Café program provides drop-in services for individuals experiencing homelessness and those at-risk of homelessness.

The program began as a warming centre in December 2023 as part of the City of Hamilton’s 2024 Winter Warming Response strategy and has grown to a permanent response to vulnerable citizens living rough, outdoors or in inadequate housing – supporting clients who struggle to access the daily necessities of life.

Located at the Christ’s Church Cathedral on James Street North, the program has the capacity to serve up to 50 individuals at a time. Individuals accessing the program are offered space to find relief from the elements (extreme cold, snow, rain, and heat), access washrooms, and receive a warm and nutritious meal from our breakfast and lunch programs. Clients have access to clothing donations, snacks and personal hygiene supplies. Naloxone and health and safety supplies are on hand and readily accessible.

Many service providers provide regular service at the café. These include (but are not limited to):

  • Service Ontario
  • Ontario Works
  • Ontario Disability Support Program
  • Alcohol Drug and Gambling Services

Other partners also regularly provide medical and pet support services.
